i always thought chai tea was some namby pamby Californian sorta drink, much the same as sushi and pilates. But since i do pilates and eat sushi now i decided to try some chai (eh eh eh)
Good ol' Frankie came through with a relatively simple recipe, that even i, did not turn into a "lolfail".and it even comes with video instructions for those less literacy inclined (i.e me)
Ingredients
1 1/4 cinnamon sticks
6 cloves
6 black peppercorns (i did three)
6 green cardamons
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
Preparation
Dry roast all the ingredients except the ginger for about 1-4 minutes. Then add the ginger and leave to cool. Grind down in a pestle & mortar or a coffee grinder. Keep in an airtight container for up to 6 months. Add ¼ teaspoon to flavour 2 cups of tea.I added sugar to mine and used milk instead of water (cause I'm healthy like that) If you wanna make it extra yummy add cocoa powder. And more sugar.
